Gifts from Kozan, Adana

Which one I like?

My boyfriend knows I love Pistachio.

He sometimes called me Pistachio :)

The black tea now become my favorite tea.

I asked my boyfriend to send one box for my birthday and here it is.

Those two books are books for learning Turkish.

They are good book but quite tough, I think so.

The long sleeve shirt bought in LC Waikiki, the boutique where my boyfriend love to buy.

The birthday card is the “love” one. It’s simple but unique.

I love everything that he sent to me.

Thank you so much my most generous and romantic boyfriend.

Left and right side already taken by my boyfriend and I. What about the middle one? Only Allah knows it

twin banana

I found this twin banana in Mydin Mall. There were two bananas in one skin?

Twin fruits and veggies are not ‘mutated’ and they are perfectly safe to eat.

Anyone who has a garden can tell you they taste exactly the same.

They pretty much are just like conjoined mammal twins, just the plant version.

So take a picture and eat it or make banana bread! :)

My last weekend was not monotonous.

On Thursday, I took the train to Kuala Lumpur (KL) .

The next morning, I arrived in KL and had some ice cream scoops before lunch.

I went for my eye treatment right after lunch.

I visited my friend and her newborn baby in the evening.

The next day, my friends and I had a super duper buffet lunch at Istana Hotel before heading over to Suria KLCC for movies and a bit of shopping.

Scroll down for some pictures taken in KL.

I am the survivor of a long distance relationship.

My boyfriend and I have been 3 years all long distance.

It’s really hard, but having a strong foundation of trust is super important.

I don’t think I would have survived without it.

But, if two people are committed to making the relationship work and pour their hearts into it, a long distance relationship can thrive and be totally worth the heartache :)

Here some tips and advice on how to survive a long distance relationship.

1) Communication

Since everything is now almost possible through clicks, you can’t blame distance for lack of communication anymore.

All you have to do is to find time for your regular virtual date.

An Internet is God send for people who are in long distance relationships :) .

Not only can you communicate via email and instant messaging for free, but you can also talk to each other through free services like Skype! And that means no more hundreds cash a month phone bills!

Since our first day, my boyfriend and I have communicated everyday in some form (email, Skype, Facebook, etc).

No lies! almost everyday with talking. The loneliness is hard :)

Surviving long distance relationship via Skype!

It’s pretty tough to handle, but thanks to all the advancements in technology. It has become easier to handle :)

2) Spend time together

Even though your partner may live hours or miles away, you can still experience “date nights” with him/her.

Skype will be your best friend. And don’t be afraid to get a little freaky on it ;)

Is there any movies you both like? Plan to watch  at the same time (coordinate your time zones) .

It’s fun doing the same thing at the same time. Even though you’re apart, you’re still sharing a moment “together”.

Sometimes, we watched movie or video together online :)

There’s no reason to miss out on some of the better parts of dating completely just because you’re not physically together.

His song my favorite

My favorite his ringtone

3) Stay connected in each other’s life

Share the important details with your lover.

Your partner would love to be a part of the world you are in.

It’s important to care about what’s going on in your loved one’s life when you’re not there and get to know your partner’s family and friend.

And find something your partner is passionate about that you can get involved with.

His friends

I learn much more about his likes, dislikes, and passions

4) Love gift

Sending packages to each other keeps you thinking about what the other person might like and helps them feel cared for and appreciated.

Come on, do I really have to tell you how much people love to be surprised by a package in the mail? :) Another great surprise: a handwritten letter. Even better—a surprise visit!

My boyfriend gave me his sweatshirt to remind me of him. I thought it was really neat because smelling his smell made it feel like he was that much closer :) The smell of him helps me fall asleep, it’s like a teddy bear for me :)

Simply great thing

5) Trust each other

The one thing that destroys long distance love affairs more than any other is a lack of trust.

It requires very strong trust, commitment, guidelines, and communication.

Geographical limitations should not destroy the bond between you and your partner.

You might feel like giving up but as long as you hold on to your love, everything’s going to be alright.

When other people tell you that you’re going to break apart, just flash a smile.

Remember that the greater the sacrifice, the more fulfilling the feeling is after overcoming all the obstacles

Why online relationships are not weird? The answer is everybody’s doing it.

I have known people who met on Facebook, MySpace, blogs, forums and many other places.

I can’t be the only person who does this, can I? :)

If you wanna working on painting, you need to get a good sketching.

And sketching practice helps you improve not just your sketching skills, but almost about any form and medium of visual art :)

rough lines

I don’t like the lines and strokes

poor sketch 😦

The basic unit of a sketch can be said to be lines.

Those curvy or straight lines. Those faint or crisp lines.

If you can draw them the way you want, confidently, then your sketch will turn out well.

Hence, to do good sketches, practice on your line strokes, until you are sure that you can draw any line, the way you want.

Persian baked the first biscuits during the 7th century BCE.

The modern biscuit is a French invention.

The name of biscuit comes from Latin bis cotum means baked twice :) .

In the U.S, a cookies is sweeter than a biscuit and has more sugar than a biscuit.

What we called cookies in the U.S are called biscuits in U.K and other commonwealth countries like Malaysia :)

Cookies called koekje which represents the small pieces of dough

Cookies and biscuits can be discerned by their size, texture and the way you eat them.

I think cookies is flatter than a biscuit :)  and it accompanied by ice cream, a glass of milk or chocolate dessert.

You can use a spoon of strawberry jam, or squeeze maple syrup in your biscuit :) .

Well, there are many new ways of eating a biscuit or cookies which can be a real fun! :)

Malay = BISKUT,  Turkish = BİSKÜVİ

P/S: Thank you my prince charming for this yummylicious gift from Turkey :)

I used to think that blogging was for people with too much time on their hands.  But now, I don’t :) .

In a real sense, blogging is good for your life.

Most people know the basic benefits of blogging:

  • you can make more connections,
  • you can make an exploration of the world,
  • you can become part of a community,
  • you can learn something new.

But for me, blogging is an online record of your life. You are post thing that you are thinking about and that interest you.

This is the place you express your thoughts and feelings, you share you ideas and knowledge with others.

The most important thing is to be honest and write about what matters.

If other people find your blog and enjoy reading about your life, that’s fine.

If it’s just a journal or diary to keep a record of your thoughts for your future reference, that’s fine too.

This blog is a photo oriented blog that focuses on me in general and food :) .

This is also a place where I express myself to my handsome man or to those who might stop by to read what I post :) .

I will say what I really feel and what I really think and leave it at that.  Enough for the intro. Now on to the meat of today’s entry.

When I thought about what I wanted to name my blog, the name gemuk came to me instantly. It’s an easy name to remember and related to a person I love so much.

The word Gemuk come from Malay language means fat. Gemuk carry a sense of cute name that I find appealing :)

Some girls love to call their boyfriend with cute nicknames like snuggleable, cuddles, cuddly bear or honey bear but I like to call my man Gemuk.

But he is not fat. LOL.

This is a cute pet name to tell him that I love to be close to him all the time.

And it’s also a pet name for one homeless cat I’ve adopted.

The cat is a  fat cat.

Well, maybe this picture will help you to understand why I call my blog what I do.
